Good Morning Crafty Blogger - are you set for this weeks dare?

Oh well you'll just have to wait another couple a seconds ..... lol ..... I just wanted firstly to say big thanks to you all for taking part in my very first dare last week - you may have noticed I was a tad excited :D. I've fell a bit behind on my visits - but I will be visiting soon - so get the kettle on.

Now for this weeks Dare, and as we are right back to the start again - 'tis the lovely Jane that is gonna be daring us this week;

Its my turn (Jane) to dare this week.

Okay -are you ready ?

For my dare you can choose any theme for the card BUT it must incorporate 'Checks', whether it be gingham paper or ribbon or squares, any thing really as long as it incorporates some kind of shape with 4 equal sides....... so go on- I dare you to think outside the square/step out of the box ..............easy as, eh ?!!

Remember to leave a comment on the DCM Blog and we will hot tail it over to admire your lovley creations.

You can also join in the fun if you don't have a Blog, just send a photo/scan to the team on;

daringcardmakers@hotmail.co.uk

.... and we will add it to the Gallery for all to see.

Papers from SA * Angel Kisses Bloom * Sizzix Daisies Die * American Craft Ribbon * QK Moxy Alphabet * Faux Chipboard Sizzix Fun Serf Numbers * Anita's 3D Gloss * Hero Art's Happy Birthday Stamp *

I've used Actetate for the front of this card.
I stamped the two boarders down the spine of the card and then cut around it, then using my beloved sewy machine I added the Acetate. It was quite hard to photograph - it does look better in RL. I'm not too happy with the 'pp' - but hey, you live and learn.

We've Got Your Number..

Morning Crafters, have you been checking out the Pockets full of cardy creations so far on the Blog list?

They're amazing, thank you for joining in the excitment of my first dare, I've had a fab time visiting everyone, if I've missed anyone, Sorry - give me a shout and I'll hot tail it over - there is still plenty of time to get yours done if you've not already.

Now for a bit of mid week fun -

This week we have a numerical Little Extra challenge for you:

"We've Got Your Number"

Numbers and Fun? Those two words don't often appear in the same sentence, do they?

Well, we'd like you to have some fun with numbers and put a numeral on your card - it's as easy as that

So a great opportunity to make some kid's birthday cards, but there's also Sweet 16, those milestone Birthdays, Special Anniversaries, even New Home cards personalised with the recipient's new house number on - as long as it's got a number on it, it counts (haha - did you spot the extra-subtle pun there?)

There are probably loads of other ways to use numbers on your cards so get inventive.

Haberdashery Department Dare.

Look what happened to us yesterday. A mad golfer hit our windscreen with a golf ball as we were driving along the main road in town yesterday.

If the windscreen wasn't there it would have smacked me right between the eye's.

But all was fine - well the golfer was in a worse state than us ........ poor guy.

Now let's get on with the good stuff ..... IT'S DARE TIME!!!!!!!! and it's Gillian's turn.

G'day all, Gillian here, and it's my turn to dare you all this week

Your card can be any theme you like, just as long as it's got something you'd find in a Haberdashery Department on it

Alright then, grab that old sewing basket of yours or raid your sewing machine drawer, have a look at what creative bits are hidding away there....maybe it's buttons, a zip, hook & eye's, ribbons, braids, Dressmaking patterns, tape measures,Pins & Needles, lace, safety pins or embroidery thread....

so many wonderful little treasures just waiting to be added to your next card :O)

I'm going to add one more rule....

Yes you may stitch on your card, but that can't be your only haberdashery item....

We have Donna joining us for the next couple of week's as our new Guest Designer, so a big'Hi' to her.

I found this really 'challenging'. I did start off doing two baby cards - but ended up with this.

The flowers are gingham material. I've also used embroidery threads, tassely stuff and some buttons (hand stitched on) and my beloved Sewy.

Remember to leave us a comment on the DCM Blog and we'll all head over to checkout your amazing creations.

You can still join in the fun if you don't have a Blog, just send a photo/scan to the team at;

daringcardmakers@hotmail.co.uk

and we'll add it our Gallery for all to see.

Have FUN!!!!!!

Mid Week Retro Fun.

So I've been bursting to tell you all what Steve's secret mission was on Friday morning - it was to track down a copy of Papercrafts Inspiration. We had our first mention in a crafty mag - and we are all sooooooooo excited about it.

Jane's been looking at the stats and come up with a few bits of DCM trivia;

*On average we are gaining 445 NEW visitors every single month

*The average daily visit count is 232 people

*We have had visitors not only from the UK, NZ and Australia, where our Design Team members are based, but also from the USA, Sweden, Germany, Ireland, Puerto Rico, India, Belgium, Canada, Singapore, Finland and France

*We are due to hit the 50000 visitor mark soon - sometime around 23rd July - WOW!

We would all just like to say a huge 'Thank You' to all you talented Darers. Who make the DCM Blog such a fun place to hang out...x

Still plenty of time for you take part in Friday's Text Dare, if you've not already. If you have, then here's a little mid week fun to keep you going .....

We've another Retro challenge for this week's Little Extra.

This time we'd like you to find your inspiration in the 1960s.

Think my card is late 60's. I've gone for a tie dye look on some glossy card. The 'Groovy' is an Autumn Leaves alphabet. QK flower in a circle. the other alphabet is from Hero Arts.

Text Dare

Happy - Soggy - Friday crafty Bloggers - or wind swept if you live near Kathy. When is the rain going to stop so the Sun can rule the sky?

My Guy's got home from Lanzarote in the wee small hours this morning - and they are so brown ..... and I'm soooooo blue/white, it makes them look darker :( I'll have to walk a few steps behind them until they fade a bit.

They had a great time. J is still sound asleep - but hubz has been sent out on a secret mission - which he failed miserably .... boo!!!!!, there will be more about that on Tuesday.

So this week we are having a team dare.

TEXT...
definition... the main body of matter in a book or manuscript. the actual wording of anything written or printed, short passage of scripture, etc

We'd like you to somehow incorporate text into your cards this week - not just one word.. but a portion of TEXT... like a poem, or newspaper print, Caligraphy, Even rip up an old text book and use some of the paper from it, there are masses of possibilities here, so let your imaginations run riot and let us see you texting to your heart's content!

Remember to leave a comment on the DCM blog so we can pop along and see your fab creation.

If you don't have a Blog - don't worry you can still join in the fun.
Just send a photo/scan to the team at;

daringcardmakers@hotmail.co.uk

... and we will add it to our Gallery.

Bitz & Bobz used;
DCWV card stock. Anna Griffin Paper. Stamp unknown. Prima flower. Gems from my stash.Cuttlebug Embossing Folder

Cartoon Crazy Little Extra

Hello Crafty Bloggers - have you missed me .... ?

I've a lot of Blog hopping to catch up on - so, sorry to everyone who I've not visited in a while, but a change in my meds has left me a bit poorly the past few weeks - but hopefully I'll be back to my old self before long, and get back to doing my visits - I've been missing all your fabby work.

Home alone this week. My Guys headed off to Lanzarote for a week of sun, sand and male bonding. My hubby has called every night to let me know that he had been dumped by J, as hanging around with his 'Auld Pa' was cramping his style .... teehee. Poor Dad, your boys growing up ;).

I got my new camera yesterday. I was so excited waiting for it to be delivered I thought I'd burst, and now I have my grubby little hands on it I love it. I went for a Nikon D40 SLD. I was in and out all day yesterday - between rain and thunder storms, snapping everything in sight. Wish the rain would stay off for a bit so I can play in the garden a bit longer.

Do you have a Bebo page .... ? .... I have just made one and I'm totally-totally addicted to it. If you have one pop along and say 'Hi'- LynneR73. There is a link at the bottom of my Blog.

So enough of the catch up, it's time for a little bit of mid week fun to keep us on our toes - Lythan picked our theme.

We'd like you to have a go at making a cartoon inspired card!

You could use the colours and patterns (eg Minnie Mouse's dress would mean a black, white and red spotty card; Winnie the Pooh red and um, honey coloured) or symbolic (eg using an anchor inspired by Popeye).

Please take care not to infringe the copyright rules - you might need to think a bit more laterally with this one. Remember to leave a message on the DCM Blog, and we'll hot-foot it over to see your cartoon creations.
