Your not the *(em)*boss of me now ..........

So many amazing cards for Keryn's Celestial dare again this week, and of course for Tuesdays Little Extra.

We love seeing all your fab cards so remember to leave a comment on the DCM blog and we will pay you a visit.

I'm totally in love with the Cuttlebug dies and embossing folders. So I was so excited when Lythan announced her dare for this week.

Hi there playmates, its Lythan here!

I was so strict last time I set a dare - here is a nice broad theme to get your creative juices flowing.

Embossing.

Dry embossing with a light box or with a die cutting machine.
Using embossing powders or triple embossing.
Using pre-embossed papers.
Embossing with found items.

Just have fun playing!

And as I can't resist being a little (em)bossy - why not see if you can get more than one emboss technique on your card?

Something old, something new ........

......... something borrowed, something blue.

That is your 'Little Extra' this week if you choose to join in the mid week fun.

This week we have a recipe challenge for the Little Extra. There's an old rhyme that tells brides what they should wear on their wedding day to be sure of good luck, it goes:

Something Old
Something New
Something Borrowed
and Something Blue

This week we'd like you to incorporate these four things into your card -

It doesn't have to be a Wedding card, despite the verse - just as long as your card features each of those things on it.

Borrowed could be borrowed from another card, some ribbon from a chocolate box, a tiny piece "borrowed" from a child's hair ribbon, even a postage stamp from an old envelope, it could also be an item or technique borrowed from a different crafty sphere...

And before you ask - whilst you're allowed to use a sewing machine to make your card - it CAN'T be your borrowed item - as that would be just TOO EASY and this is supposed to be a challenge, isn't it! hehehe

Can you believe Kathy - the meany :) - wouldn't let us use the machine as out borrowed - Booooooo - hehehehehe!!!! So I had to use some lace and ribbon borrowed from various cards and clothing and some cardboard from an old box.

It's Friiiiiiiday .........

...... which means a brand new dare for us all to get our teeth into.

We've been inundated by so many gorgeous cards for Kel's 'I Can See Clearly' dare and mid week fun with Gill's 'Not So Sticky' Little Extra.

Phew ..... I am trying to get to visit everyone's Blog, if I've missed you, I'm sorry, give me a shout and I'll toddle along.

Of course we still have Kirsty with us as our Guest Designer for this weeks dare - which has been set by Keryn.

Hi it's Keryn here and it's my turn to set the dare this week.

This time I asked my family for ideas for this weeks dare and the best amongst a lot of ideas including power tools etc, etc was Lachlan's ideas for Space. It's been his topic at school this term. (Lachlan is seven and in Year 3).

To make in a little easier on you all I've called it Celestial to also include horoscopes as well as planets, spaceships, stars, suns etc.

How you use these items is up to you.

We love seeing your works of art, so remember to leave a comment with your Blog link on the Daring Card Makers Blog, and we will all pop over for a visit.

If you don't have a Blog, don't worry you can still play along. Send a photo/scan of your card to the team at -

daringcardmakers@hotmail.co.uk

and we will add it to the DCM Galley for all to see.

A Not So Sticky - Little Extra

Howdy Crafty Bloggers.

Had a fab day with Rhi at the Edinburgh, Corn Exchange on Sunday. We had a later start to the day - and there was a 'bit' of a traffic jam due to three breakdowns at the Forth Road Bridge, but it was all good, as I got to hear all the inside info on Rhi & Matt's wedding - it's so exciting.

Oh and we spent some pennies once we got to the Corn Exchange.... many Cuttlebug bits were purchased.

Now for a bit of mid week fun.

Gillian came up with this weeks Little Extra, 'No Sticky Stuff Allowed'

"how's about a dare where you can't use any adhesives at all...

You have to put them away...

No tape, no gluesticks, no Xyron, no modpodge.... and all other sticky things....

the only things you can use are things like staples, stitching, brads, eyelets, pins.... that sort of thing to attach all the bits to your card."

This was not as easy as I thought - everything kept moving while I was trying to attach it to the card ...... hehehehe!!!! but I got there in the end .... phew!!!

I've used stitching, staples, various brads and eyelets to hold my card together.

Are you up for the Dare?

Good, off you go - hope you don't come unstuck - hehehehe!!!!***blush***

I Can See Clearly Now .......

Been a bit poorly this week so have been taking it easy, even more easy than usual.... hehehehe!!!!

We've had a fantastic response to both Jo's 9-5 Dare last Friday and Tuesday's Little Extra, which is great. We love visiting all your Blogs and seeing your amazing creations.

Big thanks to Bety who has been our Guest Designer for the past couple of weeks, we've loved having you as part of the team.

For the next couple of weeks we have the totally amazing Kirsty Wiseman joining the team as our new Guest Designer. Looking forward to seeing her fabby card creations on the DCM Blog.

Right - lets get to this weeks dare, which was set by the lovely Kel.

Kel says;

Okay, this week I would like you to use some acetate, vellum, plasma or anything else remotely 'see-through' on your card. That's it!

Remember to leave a comment, with your Blog link, on the Daring Card Makers Blog and we will come and visit. You can also show us your creations by sending a photo/scan to the team at;

daringcardmakers@hotmail.co.uk

.... and we will add it to our gallery.

This is the card I made for J's birthday last week - he was really happy with it. Which is a big thing for a 'teenager' to admit. I painted the acetate with Blonde Moments paint.

Tommorow I'm off to spend the day with my good friends Rhi, Nic & Lisa, for a lot of Oo-ing & Ah-ing and much stroking of crafty goodies and maybe even some singing as we rumage in the drum of discounted stamps ....... you know who you are .....

I can't wait.
