Golden Highlights.

Have you missed me .... :D

Well Monday was a huge day for me this week.

As some of you may know, I have been off work for the past 8mths due to illness. Well this week saw the start of my fazed return to work.

I was very nervous, but glad to say all went well, and with school in-service days Thu-Fri, it was a nice short week - which I was very happy about, coz I was exhausted.

J has gone Christmas shopping with his Dad down to Manchester for the in-service days, so this gave me total peace to get stuck into Keryn's 'Golden Highlights' dare.

We also have the ultra talented Louly with us for the next couple of weeks as our Guest Designer.

I seem to have a liking for gold as an accent colour. So this week I'd like you to make a card for any season or occasion but must include gold somewhere. It could be a brad, metallic card, heat embossing, ribbon, anything at all as long as it's gold

........and CUT!!!!!!

What an amazing assortment of ribbon cards we've had this week - both for the main dare and the little extra.

Bea from Ribbon Oasis donated a prize for last Fridays dare, and the randomly picked winner is ............(insert drum roll)....................... Rosie. Congratulations this bundle of ribbony gorgeous-ness will be winging it's way to you very soon.

This week Tracie is setting the dare;

..... and Cut!!!

Any theme goes, so for those of you needing a break from Christmas crafting this is the perfect opportunity to have a change.

All styles are welcome but there MUST be an element of handcutting somewhere.

It could be a greeting, a shape, letters printed on your pc and handcut, anything goes as long as you did it by hand.

Wrap it in Ribbon for Christmas

Oh I'm so late up loading my Blog today, but I have a good excuse.

I spent the day with my best crafty buddies Rhi and cutsie Dolly Nic at the SECC in Glasgow ..... phew it was one very busy day, but we had a fab time.

The only downside of the day, was that Lisa was ill and couldn't make it, but all that means is we have to arrange another meet as soon as she is feeling better.

Thank you all so much for joining in with our Anniversary Dare - it was wonderful to see all your cards and have so many people celebrate with us.

We've another special dare this week. Bea from Ribbon Oasis is sponsoring a challenge to use her fabbylicious range of Christmassy ribbons on our cards. So Lucky Us - we all received an envelope full of ribbons to play with and below you'll find the cards we've made (so far!)

So this week we'd love you to join in and make Christmas cards using lots and lots of fabby, yummy ribbon - now that shouldn't be too hard, after all we all love ribbon, don't we?

Don't forget that you can replenish and expand your ribbon supply easily by visiting the Ribbon Oasis website - you'll find so much of the gorgeous twirly stuff there you'll be spoilt for choice - we guarantee it!

Bea is giving a ribbonful prize to one lucky darer this week. All you need to do is make a be-ribboned Christmas Card especially for the DCM (no doubling up of challenges this week....), post a link to say where we can see it.

Or send it by email to daringcardmakers@hotmail.co.uk for the gallery and you'll be in with a chance of winning.

Couldn't be easier, could it?

Happy Birthday Daring Card Makers

Our Amazing Circle Of Friends

The group of friends who got together to form the Daring Cardmakers back in October 2006 has developed and grown into a huge circle of crafting and blogging friends who come together from all over the world to share their inspiration and their talents so enthusiastically, and are always so supportive of each other's cardmaking.

In honour of all of you who've helped make this blog so successful, and such a friendly place to "play" we've decided to revisit our very first dare for this our first anniversary, but with a twist.

The subject is, as in our original dare "friends", but this time the title is

CIRCLE of FRIENDS

and we'd like you to incorporate at least one circle into your card.

It would make it a very special occasion if for this dare you'd make a card just for the DCM rather than doubling up with other challenges.

Please join in and celebrate our first anniversary with us, without all of you - our wonderful extended "Team of Darers" and of course all those who've joined us as Guest Designers over the last year it wouldn't be half as much fun.

Hey-hey we're the Monkey's

Hey-hey we're the Monkey's and we're monkeyin' around ......

I've been monkeyin' around the past couple of weeks. No crafting at all - I am mojoless, and with school holiday's - sheeeesh - I don't know which way is up, but as you probably know, October is a very special month for Daring Cardmakers.

Next week we will be celebrating our first anniversary - with a very special dare.

We have loved seeing all the amazing creations over the past year, and we look forward to seeing even more crafty gorgeousness in the year to come.

On to this week's challenge.

Hellooooo, Kathy here to set you a really Beastly dare this week!

The theme is ANIMAL and you can use anything that's animal inspired - not those diddy little ones like bugs, birds and butterflies (though you can include them in your design of course) but what I'd really like to see is bigger, wilder, more fabulous or fantastic creatures

So you could maybe use animal die cuts, animal prints on paper or fabric, or maybe animal words or phrases "grrrrr get down tiger"!!!!

You could invent your own wild and wonderful beasties, or go back in time for dinosaurs, or into the world of mythology for all sorts of incredible creatures.

How about a card in the shape of a tiger, elephant or monkey?

Now, there's a challenge for you.... I'd love you to all go really wild over this one and have loads of beastly fun

Your in the Frame

Sorry I'm late with my dare post this week.
I've got a bug which has kept me in bed the past few days. :(

Thanks for all the amazing work for Gill’s Op shop dare last Friday, and Tuesday’s Planes, Train’s & Automobiles Little Extra - we love seeing all the different takes on the dare’s that are set.

Of course we still have our fab Guest Designer Rachel with us this week.

So, on with the dare.

This week I’d like you to use a FRAME or FRAMES on your card.

You can use any type of frame you so wish.

How about a die cut frame or a hand cut frame.

You can frame your card with brackets or flowers or how about some doodling - the choice is yours.

Vrooooooooom-Vrooooooooooom

Hello Darers - ready for a Little of something Extra to keep you going until I set Friday's dare?

Firstly - have you heard the exciting news?
Fellow Daring Cardmaker, Kel has had a bouncing baby boy.

Congratulations Kel & Family, and welcome to baby Harrison..x

Cars, Boats, Trains & Planes is the theme for our Little Extra challenge this week.

A good chance to stock up on kids cards and make a few of those poor, unloved "cards for men", maybe? How about "congratulations on Passing yout Driving test" or "Got your Wings" for newly qualified pilots? - ok so we may be reaching a bit far with that one, but you never know!

Basically, what we'd like you to do is put some transport on your cards this week, how you do it is up to you!

Pink Petticoat.

I got some of the Pink Petticoat images from Dolly Nic yesterday, and couldn't wait to have a play with them. They are soooooo cute.

Feeling a bit Mojo-less so it has taken the whole day to make this one card, which is for a Bex Challenge. Spots, Stripes and Waves.

In a Word .....

Good AFTERNOON fellow crafters.

I'm a bit late with the my post today, as I have been off out with my good friend Dolly Nic. Drinking coffee and eating homemade flapjacks .... oh yummy.

I had a great time rumaging through Nic crafty stuff, and having a good old yack.

She is so organized, with loads of christmas toppers and bits done, and beautiful wedding samples.

Don't you just love being in someone elses craft space.

Sorry if you've been waiting for me to update, lets get on with the Dare.

This week we have Mrs Reids very first dare.

Hi Darers.

It's Rhi here, happily married and ready to get on with some crafting! We've loved seeing your Big and Little cards, and doesn't it feel good to have started those Christmas Cards!

This week I dare you to use a Word as the main focal point to your card.

It can be a name, a greeting or just a word that inspires you. You can use other text but only one word as a main embellishment.

So dig out your dictionaries, die cutters, alphabet stamps, rubons or download a funky font and show us what you can do!

Tickled Pink

BIG & Little - LE

Think I'm starting to get the feel of the Christmas card spirit after seeing all the amazing creations from Friday's team dare.

There's still loads of time left if you've not had a go yet, but if you have then how about something a little extra to keep you going until the next Dare.

Big & Little We'd like you to use items in pairs of Big and Little - so you need to have both sizes on your card ie big & little buttons, big & little die cuts, big & little hearts, big & little circles etc.

The theme of your card can be whatever you like this time, so that's nice of us, isn't it?

My Guys & Me - Coaster Book.

This is a mini Coaster book - made for a Bex challenge.
I have added journaling to the back of each coaster, and some doodling.
Well it wouldn't be me without some stitching or doodles ... :D.
